Appliance Number: 2511

Description

The principal goal of this appliance is to manage a loss in arch length by using a pre-activated system. The original design of this appliance used coil springs to provide the necessary force, and chain elastic attached to mesial and distal hooks to control the force. In the new design shown here, the AP force is provided through a unique Compression Tube Activator that is comprised of fine bore silicone tubing. Replacing the springs and hooks with this new material has improved the stability and safety of the appliance. The advantages of this appliance are that it is removable from the bands giving the doctor complete control, it is virtually invisible, and it can be used in conjunction with any conventional fixed appliance technique.
